There were twists and turns at every chapter, m aking me change my mind, and increasing the stakes each time. ![]() I loved that the plot wasn’t too straightforward, and even though I had a slight suspicion of who the murderer could be, I never fully knew. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m complete and utter trash for anything dark academia, and The Ivies was a gripping thriller that kept me clutching the edge of my seat throughout! I love prep school drama, and scandals (the ✨ spicier ✨ the better), so this book was super fun for me! It reminded me a lot of Pretty Little Liars, in the sense that the friend group personalities were similar, they relied on secrets and blackmail for loyalty, and when one of the main characters was murdered, and one of the friends started solving the murder – they were being sent threats, and being told to back off. ![]() 6/26/2023 0 Comments The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer![]() ![]() It seems likely that David's mother has severely burned his arm on a gas stove, and that's the reason the teachers alert the authorities. Chalk that down to a one-star due to not-for-me. Well, actually, I found the content kind of boring, too. The prose is just boring, which might be partly the translator's fault (my edition is ancient and does not name the translator). It's a good chunk of I-don't-get-it - I mean, I understand Hermann Hesse's intentions and all that, but maybe he's right that I'm too young for it. And then I got onto my MA and discovered I was wrong, of course, that I could still find any given book stultifyingly boring regardless of any merit I tried to find within its pages. ![]() I have in my hands the key to any text, anywhere, and damn it I will appreciate every text for something about it, whether it be the brilliance of the writing or the social context or just having fun ripping it apart. Lupin follows Arsène Lupin, a “gentleman burglar” and master of disguises-something of a Moriarty on a very effective dosage of anti-psychotic medication. Both shows will, likely, have frustratingly long gaps between seasons. Title: The Extraordinary Adventures of Arsne Lupin, Gentleman-Burglar Author: Maurice Leblanc Release Date: NovemeBook 6133 Most recently updated: JLanguage: English Character set encoding: UTF-8 Produced by: Nathan J. Arsne Lupin versus Herlock Sholms ( French: Arsne Lupin contre Herlock Sholms) is the second collection of Arsne Lupin stories written by Maurice Leblanc, featuring two adventures following a match of wits between Lupin and Herlock Sholms. Both unravel in often chronologically confusing ways. Both chronicle episodic exploits of morally-dubious men-both geniuses, both ahead in life yet somehow depicted as underdogs. Arsène Lupin, the multifaceted gentleman thief, steals two masterpieces from the President of the Council. Both are detective fiction transplanted from the early 20th century into contemporary Europe. (Let’s call it “detective metafiction.”) Metafiction aside, Lupin will no doubt draw comparisons to the BBC’s Sherlock series. Lupin, Netflix’s French-language detective series about a novel series of the same name, is also based on a novel series of the same name it’s a show containing the book the show itself is depicting. ![]() |
